I have about a year to two years prior to looking into new jobs. I was wondering if there are online classes or if my current experience would be enough to jump into the ROV field.

    Tech expereince
    1. 5 Years US Marine Corps fixing Air Traffic Control RADAR systems.
    2. 1 Year fixing Same systems in Baghdad, Iraq, as well as teaching RADAR theory to 120 Iraqi Techs. Expanded work to include Radio and VSAT systems during this time.
    3. 8 months training and fixing avionics on UAVs (General Atomics Predator, Reaper, and Gray Eagle), as well as ground station systems.
    4. 2 years fixing/maintaining Air Traffic Control RADAR systems in Afghanistan.

So would experience with advanced electronic systems typically be enough or is there a way to prepare to enter this field via online or distance learning (I plan to finish another year or two in Afghanistan prior to looking for another field)

Yes, I’m sure it would, just be aware it will be you and hundreds of others in the same position.

If you wish to increase your sellability for ROVs, I would recommend getting training/experience with hydraulics to complement your electronics.
