    Guys, whats the name of the device used to pin point where a break in the umbilical has occured?
    P.S. The answer is not eyes

    You can alos us a low voltage DC power supply and a meter if there is a short to another core at the break. You can use the potential divider method.

    If you apply a voltage to one core from one end to the other you can measure the voltage on the shorted core to the powered core. The break will be a the point indicated by the voltage ratio of the measured voltage to the voltage applied.
