Hey guys, I am planning to attend the MTCS ROV Pilot course but I am concerned if they have a good practical class. I don´t see many photos of their ROVs on pools…

Thanks a lot!
I’d review your planning before committing. Have a good read around here and you’ll see that the best route is through ‘in house’ company training not through some private ROV school that will most likely be touting IMCA qualifications, incorrectly I might add!
I went down the road of MTCS. I have now got a start as a trainee in the industry but I must point out that this job was not as a result of anything MTCS did for me. On the whole I thought the course was reasonable for gauging if you’re going to want to persue this line of work and the theory side was useful. As for practical experience they use a little Seaeye free swimming in a quarry and that is about it. You are not going to get practical experience without being on the job.
Having said that, if you are using enhanced learning credits or something similar to finance it MTCS would not be the worst place to go.
Feel free to pm me.
The MTCS course is only a very basic introduction to the industry. I was a service leaver so had the course paid for by the MOD. I would definitely not use my own money or recommend anyone to use their own money for this course.
I thought the course was a joke although not a very funny one, I’m glad I wasn’t using my own money.
An instructor who had no experience and didn’t have any background knowledge. I am now as qualified as he was.
I’m now working offshore but not in the ROV industry. Talking to the ROV guys – they say that wages aren’t as good as other offshore work.
It was a nice sunny two weeks in the Lake District though.
