This is one carried over from the old forum
For the UK you will need to use a UKOOA approved medical practitioner authorised to issue offshore medical certificates.
Your GP will only be able to carry out the examination if he/she is approved by UKOOA.If they don’t know what UKOOA means, then they probably are not approved to issue you with the type of cert that you require.
Note:You will not get a medical certificate if you fail the drug test!!!A UKOOA medical is generally accepted worldwide, for offshore operations.
There is a list of UKOOA approved practitioners in the UK here:
http://www.ukooa.co.uk/issues/health/doctors.cfm
Note: It was published in 1999, so may be a bit out of date.Aberdeen: You can get a UKOOA approved medical at:

The Ming Clinic,
1 Orchard Boulevard #04-01/02,
The Camden Medical Center,
Singapore 248649.
Tel: +65 62358166.Also note that UKOOA is not accepted everywhere and you may require ‘other’ medicals at certain locations in the world.
This means it is possible to have to go through several medicals in one year instead of once every 3 years, 2 years or yearly, dependant on age. Why is this ?, well, one Doctor told me that they err… ‘didn’t trust’ for want of a better phrase, ‘outside medicals’. Maybe they had dealings with false documents, who knows ?.
Anyway it’s no big deal, as long as you have a good heart, are willing to absorb a few ‘X’ rays and part with some blood and urine, hopefully not all at the same time though 😉Note :-
The divers medical exams are a lot more stringent.
If you have any physical problems offshore such as a heart attack or other major complications, you are generally a long way from receiving a fully equipped medical team such as found at a General Hospital. To put it bluntly, your chances of recovery are less. Therefore, it’s both in yours and the Clients best interests that you are ‘fit for offshore work’.October 1, 2006 at 6:54 pm #7636Scott BeveridgeParticipantPlease note that the Ming Clinic in Singapore has changed location to :-

January 13, 2007 at 6:42 pm #7640SpacerParticipantI sent an email to Bumrangrad Hospital inquiring about UKOOA medicals and this is their reply:
Thank you for your e-mail.
Regarding your inquiry, kindly note that we do not provide particular package for UKOOA medical check-up. However, you might send a list of your requied tests to us by e-mail attachment and then we will pass to the department concern for consideration accordingly.
If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,
Bumrungrad International SukonthaSo now my question is what exactly is required and is there a specific form I can have the doctor fill out that will be accepted by employers for offshore work?

does the Norwegian Offshore medical.3475 Baht. Takes about an hour and a half.
Nobody there is authorised to do UKOOA medicals but the Norwegian one should be accepted everywhere the UKOOA one is.
