I see Deep Ocean seem to be falling on hard times. Apparently they have next to no work planned for this year.

The rate is laughable! Pretty sure someone will accept jobs like this and rates will drift lower as companies cut back and/or agencies continue to rip people off.

It is hopefully that this email finding you well.
First of all, we would like to thank you very much for your kind cooperation with SSC since & then as a ROV Supervisor for previous successful projects.
Unfortunately, as you know, the crude oil price keeps dropping dramatically, within 3 months crude oil price has been decreasing from 95 USD down to 47 USD.
Hence 2015 year is very tough time for oil & gas industries as many companies close production and stop exploration, since then ROV service will be more & more less opportunities in operations.
We, SSC, have dropped price in order to secure projects as more & more ROV players jump into our market.
Latest update, even we had discounted 20% total package price compare to 2014 year price but customers still come back again and asking for more drop of price (up to 40% discount).
As goodwill and win-win sharing principle, we are seeking you of understanding and agree with our offering for a ROV Supervisor in 2015 as following:
+ US$ 600 per offshore day
+ US$ 300 per travel day.
+ For standby day rate, it’s acceptable the travel day rate plus accommodation and meals.
Your feedback soonest is appreciated & expected but kindly no later than Friday 16th January 2015.
Have a nice day!
Thank you & Best Regards,
??????????????
So when you go shopping or fill your car up with petrol and go to pay the bill tell them your a oil worker and you want your 40% discount ! and see what they have to say .

Reading this made me ‘well-up’ 😉
Underwater engineering, survey and construction will stop – what a load of claptrap!

In reply to your post R regarding the job in Nigeria – Supv rates out there with established companies are just under double what is quoted. With the ongoing risk of their shenanigans, plus the added potential risk of Ebola, WA would be off my top slots to visit this year!
January 16, 2015 at 12:28 pm #35922deepseaconParticipantFunny that all the major oil companies made billions of USD in 2014.
And I am quite sure they will still make the billion mark in profits in 2015.
January 18, 2015 at 2:40 pm #35923liddelljohnParticipantThere will still be work ,, and the slow down will be temporary ,,so much production will be slashed in next 6 month that by this time next year the media Aholes will be spewing out dribble about peak oil, lack of future supply , shotages and $200 per barrel bullcrap,,,,,,
price by end of year will be $75-85 and within next 2 months will be back up to $60…
a good shake out of crappy agents and some over debted companies and so re alignment ,, so same same as usual..
some people will take the opportunity to retire ,, others will give up ,,mostly the desperate or newbies .
May 2016 they will be screaming for bodies …January 22, 2015 at 3:06 pm #35924SavanteParticipanthttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business/market_data/commodities/143908/default.stm
