We have recently produced an All Weather Video Recorder, this is a hard disc based unit housed in a Peli case with both GPS and keyboard overlay facilities built in. It has been used for remote operations running off 12v with for example a Videoray, a 15″ screen in teh lid and 3 days worth of continuous high quality recording capacity.

HDD recording is the future, but massive storage is the key and for full-blown ROV work lasting several weeks the solution is not there yet.
