What about this then. Say I did eg 150 days on ships that qualify for seamans tax, but don’t go back to the UK for more than a week or so a year, am i still covered by the seamans tax rules by being out of the country?

If you are a UK taxpayer and qualify for Seafarers Foreign Earnings Deduction then yes, you should.
