HOW TO GET IN D ROV P/T JOB??????

hii everyone,
i m sulabh frm india and i m doing my b.tech<mechanical> in 2nd yr. i wish to join offshore industry as a rov p/t after completion of my degree. i would be greatful to all of u if u guide me a bit about the training,salary aspects and present job scenario 4 an indian bcoz i heard tht finding a job for an indian is really difficult. is it right????? could someone tell me abt d companies who takes indian for training as well as for job also with fine salary not like oceaneering india……lol… atlast i m a avg guy in studies who hav been scoring 60-63% marks in degree till now…..bcoz its better to tell d truth because it can clear d situation….

Give SS7 in Aberdeen a call. They might take you on as a trainee in the North Sea, UK sector. It is a well known fact that they are employing foreigners in the UK sector. Plus there is no need for a work permit which will make it easier for anyone such as yourself to get work there.
I don’t suggest you simply turn up in the UK but contact them by email or phone first.

Try SS7 – they love trainees from the Middle East. But before you do that, see if you can answer these questions, OK?

Are you good at making tea? Can you remember how everybody likes their brew, especially your Supervisor? Will you be happy to man the winch, regardless of the weather?

Then, and all respects wrt to your studies, can you use handtools and common sense?

Not trying to put you off or anything. Just an advisory note that it is not all sunshine and roses offshore.

And lastly, have you a proper command of the English language…..

first of all,thanks a lot james and madddwag for your advise,hope it will help me in future.maddwag, i will keep your qus. in my mind and if i need to do that i will surely do that.
i have some queries abt ss7, i want to know that is this company itself gives rov p/t training in their institute like oceaneering india gives training itself or its better to do p/t training on my money as it can increase my chance.
well, i do some search in various forums that there are some courses based on hydraulics and electronics which can be beneficial…..are they short term courses and really help me??????……and also,somebody suggests me to do work as a pipeline engg. or field engg and told me tht these are also well money making. Are they really good i mean moneywise and also do help me in finding a rov job?????

Don’t bother with ROV’ing.. You will have to get dirty and oilly.. If you have a fancy education and really want ot work offshore you’d be better off training as a reports co-ordinator or some QA/QC waste of space type fella.. ROV is for grubby ex divers and military types ( and piss heeds and whore mongers) who don’t want to get a real job
don’t waste your time.. stick to paperwork .. you’re Indian.. You know it makes sense..

Go and be a pipeline engineer there are loads of them in India. Some are even where they are supposed to be.
