    Hello all

Was just wondering how the changes to the Ozy tax system 😥 for offshore workers has effected things. I am aware of at least two people who have moved, complete with families, out of the country. Have people been looking for Ozy work? Have the Ozy companies noticed an increase in applicants? Have people given up on the industry?

As one, of quite a few, working here in Oz:

One only has to look at the rates available in Australia, in conjunction with the currency exchange rates (vs Sterling and USD), to realise that even after tax it’s probably the best place in the world for the ROV sector. How many US GOM ROV guys earn in excess of US$1200 per day plus 9% retirement contributions?

I personally wouldn’t consider working anywhere else at the moment.

Coupled with a significant amount of new construction over the next few years the future looks rosey here.

Having said all that; cleaners, riggers, scaffies etc are still getting a better deal offshore here than ROV personnel but that’s because they support their ewe-nions. They even get living away from home allowance (believe it or not).
