Would you, or your organisation, join an International ROV Association (IROVA)?
We are trying to gauge, from the greater ROV community, the level of interest behind the formation of an International ROV Association.
Today a new website poll has been added – See the Poll block to the left of this announcement.
Please vote as your response will be much appreciated.
Those behind the idea feel that the ROV industry as a whole is long overdue a body that looks after the specific interests of the ROV industry, employees, freelance and ROV operating companies alike, through an association run by ROV people for ROV people.
Yes, there is in existence a well known, respected, International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) but, by it’s very all encompassing nature, it appears to cater admirably for the needs of companies but unable, or unwilling, to service specific ROV industry needs down to individual level, which might explain why we, as ‘mere’ ROV operatives, are in global disarray at present on many issues.
For the purpose of exploring further the development of an International ROV Association (IROVA) a domain name has been registered.
IROVA.org
Two email addresses are now active.
info@irova.org
For general IROVA inquiries of a non registration/membership nature.register@irova.org
For registering your initial membership interest and making general registration/membership inquiries. It’s early days, but it’s a move in the right direction.
More information will be made available things develop. The IROVA Poll results can be found at: http://www.rovworld.com/survey-results-29.html

November 16, 2010 at 3:31 pm #28579andyroseParticipantI am beginning to see why we have a problem in the ROV industry. If, when given the opportunity to have an input which could lead to real changes, we cannot even be arsed to vote then maybe we are getting just what we deserve.
Come on guys – get involved and have a say – if not we can expect to be subjected to falling rates and no improvement in conditions. Even if you are content with your current arrangements it is surely worth having a vote and maybe getting some positive changes.
Unless of course there are only 259 people involved in ROV’s worldwide that is! ❗

Too true Andy…. a sad lot we are! That 259 represents (approximately) less than 10% of all ROV personnel in the world.

True colors coming out again Asian… "All for one (MEMEMEME)" So… I suppose you’ll be happy paying up front to work as in bonds, paying your own insurance including liability insurance, travel days pay, hotels the likes of the Mitre (thnk eff’ that eyesore is finally gone…!!!) or any hotel on Bencoolen St., 270++ days a year offshore, being in charge of 2 workclass systems onboard with only one crew per shift, and (of course) your own (low) pay (your worth)…. Have it your way as in the burger King commercial… I’ll have it my way thanks! Chateaubriand anyone?
November 17, 2010 at 3:16 am #28583AnonymousGuestScoot sear boy.
You can bump your gums & stamp those little feet as hard as you like but that wil not detract from the fact that the yes vote stands at just under 6% of ROV hands worldwide. 😯 Your in the tiny minority bubba.
So as you very found of doing why not cut & paste this along with another rant of a reply. 😆 😆
VOTE NO 😀

November 17, 2010 at 9:58 am #28585James McLauchlanParticipantVote for what you want.. that’s the idea of a poll.
It’s not that hard to figure out.
In the interim taking little digs at each other is not the way forward for any discussion.
November 17, 2010 at 11:29 am #28586Scott BeveridgeParticipantTo all,
Just vote… Your choice yes or no. Nobody’s bullying anyone either way. There are NO SHOP STEWARDS here…. Some people are interested in other peoples views and opinions. Soooo, back to the discussion table.
