    Staff Data Processor
    Type: Permanent staff
    Location: Offshore vessel

    Job Purpose
    To apply accrued knowledge and experience in performing company work with due diligence and professionalism, and with emphasis on striving for ever improved geophysical standards.
    The Staff Data Processor is primarily an office-based role to promote geophysical excellence. In addition it is expected that some offshore time per year is undertaken to mentor offshore data processors when required.

    Principal Accountabilities
    • Be aware of the contents of the company’s Quality and Safety Policy Manuals; to be ever mindful of ones responsibilities in the workplace which affect the Health and Safety of oneself and colleagues
    • Post-processing of navigation and bathymetric data and report writing / preparation.
    • Be a source of reference of Geophysical expertise to all departments
    • Assist Survey Technical Manager in all aspects of QC of data and reports
    • Co-ordinate and lead interpretation and reporting teams on a project specific level
    • Develop and enhance procedures in respect of Geophysical Acquisition, Processing and Interpretation
    • Provide technical support for geophysical survey operations
    • Provide training and mentoring of Surveyors and Data Processors
    • Prepare and assist in preparation of Geophysics technical and commercial proposals as required
    • Mentor and advise surveyors towards achieving progression within the IMCA competency scheme
    • Carry out administration tasks according to company’s procedures
    • Undertake training on related disciplines as required

    Skills, Knowledge and Experience
    Skills & Knowledge
    • Attention to detail, Good oral and written communication skills, Diligence, Methodical approach
    • Good working knowledge of shallow marine geophysical survey principles
    • Good knowledge of hydrographic and geophysical survey report writing
    • Good knowledge of offshore acquisition, QC, processing, interpretation and reporting of Multibeam, Singlebeam and Backscatter data within geophysical site survey, cable-route and/or renewables survey industry.
    • Good standard of IT literacy
    • Knowledge of QINSy, Fledermaus Pro (including FMGT and FM Midwater) preferable

    Experience and Qualifications
    • Degree (Masters preferred) or equivalent in Hydrography (preferred) or related Geoscience discipline or relevant experience and proven track record
    • Minimum IMCA Grade I Data Processor or Offshore Surveyor competence
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in offshore acquisition, QC, processing, interpretation and reporting of hydrographic and shallow marine geophysical (SBES and MBES) data in a site survey, cable-route and/or renewables geophysical survey or related industry.

    Minimum of: 12 months experience (including 80 days offshore) as Grade II Able to work autonomously on smaller projects and mentor junior staff; plan small mobilisations, install and calibrate equipment and produce basic reports of a high standard.
