A huge rescue operation has failed to find the Danish captain of a Mærsk ship who fell overboard off the South Korean coast
It seemed like just another Monday morning for the 17-member crew of the Mærsk Responder, also carrying 55 workers who were laying cables off South Korea. But their captain, Klaus Gunnersen, never arrived for breakfast and he couldn’t be found anywhere else on board.
Since then a rescue operation numbering 11 ships has been sweeping the seas in order to find the missing 38-year-old captain from Nakskov on the island of Lolland.
After so many hours in the water, rescuers are giving up hope of finding Gunnersen alive.
