A pay increases of NOK 18,900 has resulted in an agreement between the Norwegian Shipowner’s Association and the energy industry trade unions, which headed off a strike on Monday on the offshore drilling rigs on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, according to news agency reports.
Monday night’s mediation avoided a strike among the 220 trade unionists, according to Norwegian news agency NTB.
The national arbitration tribunal presented a draft settlement that was accepted by the parties.
The result was a general pay increase of 18,900 crowns, NTB reported.
Seadrill spokesman satisfied
Kjetil Bjørnson of Oslo listed drill rig operator and owner Seadrill, who led the negotiations on behalf of the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association, said he waspleased that the parties came up with a solution.
"The employees have a good pay rise, while the framework for the settlement is in line with other settlements within the offshore sector," he said.
