Heard it’s a management buyout, obviously there is a Mr Big behind things, who knows, maybe venture capitalists, if there are any left!!!
Whoever it is, is keeping a very low profile, I’m sure it will all be revealed in time.
Rumour doing the rounds lately was ISS, doubt that though as they have spent a medium fortune on a mobile sat system, which allegedly won’t pass certification without the GDP of a small African country being spent on it…Never know it might be some middle eastern oil prince looking for a new toy 😀

November 21, 2009 at 12:52 am #24679HelpMaBoabParticipantNow then me lad,
The ROV which required a refit was TXLS44 not 51.
51 required the bouyancy to be removed and sections sent away to be rebuilt as somebody allowed a crane headache ball to be dropped onto the sub.
Apart from that the thruster and superficial bumps and scrapes all was fine.As for the mob, this was mentioned before.
The CV, ROV, TMS went directly from FATS at PSSL to CTC, Middlesburgh
The Workshop from Aberdeen, the winch & Lars from Carlisle.
This job had been brought forward by 3 weeks (in fact FAT’s were not due to be completed for another 2 weeks), no spares, consumables or tools had yet been ordered. The company did not have any supervisors, in fact all they had were 3 trainee’s as offshore personnel, in fact I think 2 of them were with 43 & 44.So basically the lads who put 51 together did a great job under the circumstances, remember this system had not even been completly fitted up ie. CV-Winch-TMS-ROV.
Everything had to be ordered on the day the kit was being transported to CTC.
So lets say everybody was in a blind panic trying to get tools/ spares & consumables down to middlesburgh. If anyone is to blame it is the High Heid Yins, who forced us to mobilise an ROV spread 6 weeks before it was ready.
Anyway just to reiterate, it was TXLS44 (MV Sentinal) which was trashed not 51
Hope this clears things up a bitDecember 2, 2009 at 10:58 am #24680Ivor Norman MacdonaldParticipantFor all those interested see Ron’s ROV links regarding the sale of Oceanteam to a Norwegian outfit at end of Nov.
