Hi all.
If you have attended a course, anywhere in the world, could you please take a bit of time out and add one or two.
Input from Rob fisher on this:
If you need to find an organisation that offers Opito Approved Courses try: http://www.opito.com/interface/trainingcentres/search.asp
and select your own country.Note that not all of these are safety courses, most are.
Best regards

Additional info for you –
There are not any training centres within easy daily commuting distance of London, but Warsash near Southampton is probably nearest, but can still be about 1hr 40 ? drive away. So wherever you go, I guess you will have to pay for accomodation if visiting from outside uk.Course prices vary between various centres, as does accomodation. I think Warsash and also Fleetwood have relatively cheap student type rooms available on campus?
Basic 3 day course can vary from £478 (rgit montrose) to £595 (Warsash), but higher course fees may be offset by cheaper local accomodation, less travel costs etc.
It is worth checking that you are booking the right course for your intended work area, and previous survival training done, e.g. if you want UKOOA approved, or also OLF for Norway etc, also if just intend working on ships that may not require helicopter travel, or if on rigs and platforms, and whether you just need refresher or whole course etc. Training centres and prospective employer should be able to advise.
The centres that I have a list for (from 2004) are:
(may be others? some may have closed?)http://www.blackpool.ac.uk/fosc (Fleetwood offshore survival centre, NW England)
http://www.rgitmontrose.com (centres in Scotland)
http://www.nutecuk.com (centres in N.E England and Scotland)
http://www.warsashcentre.co.uk (Southampton, S. coast of England)
http://www.petans.co.uk (Norwich, East England) – not sure if still open?

Just checked Petans site and they have a 2005 calendar… so I guess they are still active. I used them once a few years back for survival course … they were OK.
Here is the link to the courses for 2005

As far as I am aware Petans would be your best bet if you are located in London.
Seem to remember that London to Norwich is around 2 hours drive (ish).
If you contact Petans they will also recommend accommodation to suit your budget.regards

Hi all, just completed my FOET and EU (new name for Norwegian) refresher at the Warsash Centre Southampton (part of the Southampton Institute).
Excellent instructors and facilities, two types of accomodation to choose from, hostel or hotel type, i had the hostel type, basic but satisfactory.
