Permanant Onshore Supervisor required.
Location Galway Ireland
Working hours Monday- Friday 9-5. 1 or 2 offshore trips per year
Salary £NEGMain duties and responsibilities ;
Responsible for the mobilisation (installation and integration with the vessels systems) and demobilisation of the ROV equipment and all associated logistics issues , including calibrations and system checks prior to the start of projects on the Celtic Explorer and other vessels as required.
Responsible for ROV operations and the performance of the ROV team whilst offshore; to ensure cruise/survey objectives are delivered.
Attend (daily and ad hoc ) meetings with all relevant parties on board the vessel to plan ongoing/scheduled activities in such a way that optimum use will be made of the workable time windows.
Leading the trouble shooting and repair of the ROV system whilst offshore to ensure minimization of downtime due to system or component failure
Maintenance and upkeep of the ROV spread whilst ashore to ensure system is operationally ready at short notice at all times. This is to include developing a system of inventory control on spares
Implementation and operation of a planned maintenance system for the ROV and associated equipment in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
Development of formalized safe systems of work for the ROV spread on the RV Celtic Explorer and other vessels of opportunity in conjunction with all relevant parties
Responsible for ensuring that all ROV operations are carried out in accordance with P&O maritime services safe system of work for ROV operations
To develop a formal training plan to enable upskilling of existing staff and/or novice ROV operators.
Provide advice, support and strategic guidance and attend planning meetings as required.
To be flexible in this position and to undertake such other work as may be assigned to you by the Company from time to time.Are you suitable?
Person Specification ;
The ideal candidate will need to be highly motivated and have a high level of experience and expertise in the operation of work class or scientific ROV’s in either the commercial or scientific research fields.
Ideally, the candidate should possess/demonstrate the following:
BSc or Diploma in Mechanical and/or Electrical/Electronics Engineering, including training in High Voltage, Hydraulic, Fibre-Optic technics, or similar competence level;
Minimum of 5 years relevant offshore ROV construction, installation, survey support or scientific ROV experience, preferably in the position of Senior Pilot/Technician or ROV Engineer, or similar;
Experience in the maintenance and upkeep of ROV and ancillary equipment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluency in English is a prerequisite.
Good general IT skills.
IMCA or other approved formal ROV pilot qualifications required
Suitable candidate must be capable of attaining mandatory STCW sea going certification.Please call or email if you are interested or require more information
