    Dear all,

What is your experience using trenchers or plow’s when used burying smaller power cables?

Is there a system that could work like a “Swiss army knife” or do you have to use different equipment for all tasks?

Maybe a supersize sledge hammer solution of a trencher?

All input appreciated since I only have experience using the old Perry Flexjet trenching rov

    Hi Dan,

For shallow water stuff these guys have a pretty neat solution (based on our Comanche sub-assemblies).

The videos take a wee while to get going but are worth the wait, check out the size of the boat 😯 Very cost effective ……….

What is the full workscope – you mention ‘all tasks’? An idication of cable length/ diameter, burial depth spec, water depth it will be installed in, seabed type, location of job etc etc

There are many different trenching systems out there from a few tons to 100s tons depending on requirements. These range from crawlers, trenchers, tractors to plough systems.

Small workclass size systems are available on tracks/ skids with Orion arms and sufficient jet packages to trench up to 30cm cables up to 1.5m in up to 2500m of water. Just depends on what else you need the sub to do other than trench.

    😉

    Dan,
check out CTC Marine Projects. They have all all manner of trenching vehicles from ploughs, tractors and jetting rovs. They might give you some ideas as to what you require depending on the soil conditions etc.
