Hello, I just found this forum and this is my first post here.
I am orking on a bachelor thesis with 3 other students where we will build and ROV which will be towed behind a surface vessel. It is supposed to be towed at a depth og 50 meters, 50 meters behind a boat.
To regulate the depth we will use wings/fins which will be controlled by an automatic control system which we are currently designing.
Our problem is to find out how we should rotate the wings, we have looked at actuators (rotating and piston), stepper motors, and servos.
We have found out that most waterproof soulutions are too expensive, so we will probably end up with buidling a waterproof houseing with seals around the the shafts.
Do anyone of you have any ideas or know whats been done on similar project?
We need a tourqe of around 25-30Nm, and they need to operate on 12VDC
Thanks for any helpfull inputs.
