Do you by chance have any pictures of the unit?

Does you have the original DOE manual for the unit?

Is the mother board in the surface unit a PMB67? (4 channel)

Is it PDA or PMA? I assume PDA as it’s 110vac.

    Thanks

If your looking for good second hand inspection vehicle the Sea Eye 600 will beat the XTL Phantom hands down ask any body who was with HMB Subsub in the eightys when they they put the 600 in a tug of war with a XTL Phantom There was no contest the 600 walked all over it .

    Your absolutely right.

Quite frankly the (old) phantoms are a piece of c**p. Especially the PDA version. If you dont know what you are doing they will go up in smoke on you, ‘Literally’.

I wouldn’t use one for a paying job if my life depended on it…lol, not unless I had a couple flight cases full of spare transistors and PDA boards.

I,m just looking for a platform to test other stuff i’m developing.

Don’t care what the platform is but the phantom is big enough to strap stuff to and throw some extra floats on it around the crash frame. I’ve owned one before so I know what i’m getting into. Also, you can get them pretty cheap. Last I bought was 3 grand.

The Seaeye 600 is great and would be the right solution for the likes of diver support, spud can survey and drill support etc but not really what I need although I guess it would be nice to have the option. Problem is I spend over 250 days a year offshore so not really interested in doing ROV work in my time off. Just developing some stuff for my own use.

Were you with Sonsub back then? I may know you.

No never worked for Sonsub but yes the Phantom like you say is Crap same as the Hyball , Dart , Super Dart , UFOs and Rascals to name but a few .

Yes the good old days of 225s , 150s , Rig Workers , Duplus and Mantis most are in museums by now or Ebay .
