Put your money where your mouth is & post a salary package like you’ve been asking agency recruiters to do!!
Granted, this has been copied & pasted from an internal advertisement but what sort of package are you offering an experienced Sub Eng / Supervisor to take this job that is used to a good day rate?
Not creating a 10 page discussion here bet let’s be honest about it!!!!
March 8, 2008 at 6:19 pm #16526Ray ShieldsParticipantIt has been cut and posted from Oilcareers website, not an internal email.
I have no idea what they are offering, if I had to guess I would say between £25 and £30k but as I said, that is a guess. You will never earn the same onshore as you earn offshore (which is why we are offshore!)
By the way *I* am not looking or offering anything, its nothing to do with me, I just posted details of the ad.
March 8, 2008 at 6:31 pm #16527subseascottParticipantYou could work at SubAtlantic fixing thrusters as a senior tech for that much, what makes Fugro think that they are going to get a ‘keeper’ for a few years in that position dealing with HSE crap etc. etc. for the same cash.
Companies have to recognise that in order to get a solid group of new guys interested in working in the base as a propper tech support dept, especially with so many new systems they have to compete (not match) with off shore rates?
Maybe it’s just me but I do get the feeling that Aberdeen workshops are struggling for new guys that tick the boxes???
March 8, 2008 at 11:05 pm #16528Ray ShieldsParticipantAs I said, that is a guess, maybe its £40k, I have no idea. Companies onshore never have and never will "match" offshore rates. Offshore rates are higher because you are away from home, no access to pubs, stuck on a boat rig etc etc.
I really don’t care, go ask them 😀 😀 😀
March 9, 2008 at 12:02 am #16529luckyjim37ParticipantIs this a new position or has someone left. Can’t remember everyones name in Fugro work shop but seem to recall the electronic base techs were pretty good.
March 9, 2008 at 2:00 am #16530Ray ShieldsParticipantSteve Kier ex Survey tech was in the workshop but left 3 months ago and now works for Acergy. But with the almagamation with Rovtech the workshop is now a lot bigger and there are now about 10 guys working in there at present. Plus tooling department guys etc.
March 9, 2008 at 9:27 am #16531luckyjim37ParticipantThat is a shame for Fugro Steve was/is a good tech.
So with the workshop getting so big now is it finally organised like a professional set up or is it still a case of if you want tools steal them off whatever system workshop is in the yard? 🙂
