Or are you a Agency who supplies people for one off jobs and takes a % of what they make? And if so, are the Agency people employees of your Company while being sent out to work or are they classed as self employed.

March 21, 2008 at 1:14 am #16748Ray ShieldsParticipantGiven what has happened with UKPS it is a very important question!
March 21, 2008 at 2:14 am #16749SavanteParticipantI agree – based on what happened to a couple of guys this year – and the sheer scale of taxation involved – it’s exceptionally important to look at risk taken on by a rov pilot doing business with new faces.
For the uninitiated – look up keywords in forum on seafarers, foreign, earnings, discount, SFED,SED
March 21, 2008 at 6:48 am #16750Stephen BlackParticipantcan you expand on what happened at UPKS
March 21, 2008 at 7:14 am #16751Andy ShiersParticipantThey shafted people with their tax status , But this , I think only applies to people inside the UK not New Zealand 😕

Maybe the OP (who had no hesitation in offering a name and email address plus added a link to their website) has recently been appointed to recruit in this sector. In which case it would make sense for the company to post here.
A quick look at their website will show that they have been around for a while.

What I will say is that it may prove to be a breath of fresh air to have a new company on the block that is not set in their ways from an offshore perspective.
I do agree with Ray’s request for clarification on employment/tax status though. It is very relevant in this situation.

Hi All,
i am just confused, how can somebody be a "" I’m a ROV specialist recruiter for Oil/Gas industry "
if they don t know a sealion from a lion in the zoo? perhaps if they have a back ground in rov ? ex sub sea or the like perhaps? in that case i stand corrected……..
or maybe they are just a bod in some office that’s trying to cash in on the rov boom just now? if so does anybody really think they will be around when the lean times come? (and they will again)
I have said it before, stick with a good agent who has history, not a agent who will vanish like snow in spring,
look at the amount of " ROV specialist recruiters for Oil/Gas industry " that are popping up……. and how do they get c/vs? the e-mails and calls i (and most of the rov guys i know) get from agents i have NEVER heard of or called is amazing!
"hello M8, we have a job for you in west Africa"………. good rate, $450 a day……… WAKE UP!!!!
perhaps its a high movement of "ROV specialist recruiters for Oil/Gas industry " from company to company?
after all you can get a lot of data on a usb stick now
just a though….
