The article still has some small issues.. such as the title and a mention of ‘Toolbox Time‘ as opposed to ‘Toolbox Talk‘, but all in all, it got the main message across, in that…. we have structured chain of command with operations carried out under control plus information and data being exchanged all the time between relevant parties. I also wanted to stress that there is always an emergency action plan.

What I was trying to avoid was allow the public to perceive us as gung ho and slap happy when it comes to ROV operations.

    Very good James!

Can see you as a talking head on CNN and SKY news before long.

I particularly like you making the point that the oil spill isn’t a complicated operation for the ROVs.

Would be good for that point to get out to a wider audience.

    Hear. hear!

A good rational account addressed to the layman at last.

The lack of technical knowledge in the journalistic "profession" is all too obvious when any event past the "cat in a tree" story emerges.

    Good work James.

Nice one James, you did a good job of explaining what we do to Joe Bloggs – not the easiest task!

joe bloggs does appreciate the insight – thanks.

james, has this article made it beyond its online origins and into any ‘more mainstream media’, or will it remain a speck in someones google search ?

I guess it’ll remain a spec (as you term it)… but any small level of exposure we can get out there to correct the myths has to be a step in the right direction.
