If you do snore, your probably suffering from sleep apnoea and get bugger all sleep anyway. Chances are you’ll die in your sleep from lack of oxygen when your an old fart with a beer gut.Lose weight now and seek doctors advice. There are machines to help air flow and keep everyone happy .

There are two types of sleep apnoea, the first is when the muscles in your throat relax too much while your sleeping and block your airway, the second is when your brain forgets to tell your body to breath.

The first can be kept under control with a small machine that blows air down through your airways to keep your throat awake while you sleep. To be used every night while you sleep. The second type is corrected by undergoing an operation.

Don’t be fooled, not everyone who suffers from sleep apnoea is old and overweight!! Then again, not everyone who snores, suffers from sleep apnoea. If this is something that concerns you, visit your GP and and see if you need to be referred to a specialist.

    😳 I’m a Snorer, yes, apparantly a very loud one 🙄
It was so bad my Supervisor had me moved to my own cabin … 😆
I tried sleeping up against the bulkhead with my head up but the straw broke when we argued … he said I was snoring and I said I wasn’t even asleep yet!
Well, all’s well that ends well. My room mate is on nights and I’m on days so we each have our cabin to ourselves. Now I can play my guitar when I get a chance …. which is worse than my snoring.
I’m average weight no health problem… just can’t stand the freezing air-con. Ah well, don’t suffer any amphora, amnesia, 😯 whatever and could sleep on a barbed-wire fence 😉 ( except the aeroplane seats )
Don’t mean to snore, don’t even know it … my wife’s surprised to hear of it … Doctor, does that make me a closett snorer 😥

IMy brother had one of the worst cases in medical history according to his doctor….he was gaining weight……ageing rapidly…till he got one of those cute little comperessor/machines…..amazing difference.

I have sleep apnea and love to sleep on my back….when I would share a room I would always wake up in the morning with the other lads laundry, books etc on top of me…..loud was an under statment.

My better half rolls me over on my side and I stop snoring…funny I find when I have been training and mountain biking alot my weight drops and I stop snoring?

I had one of those for a while, bleedin nuisance of a thing ! I kept finding that I was trying to fight the thing always feeling like I was suffocating ! Gave up on it in the end and returned it to the Sleep Clinic. I have since been fitted for a MAD (Mandibular Advancement Device) and although a little uncomfortable at first seems to be doing the trick. I’m sleeping better and more importantly my wife says that I’ve stopped snoring completely ! What keeps her awake now is worrying that I’m still breathing cos she cant hear me snoring 😆

As an aside, I was hoping to have a career change (RAF Techie) but am worried that I wont get through an offshore medical. 6ft and 18 stone ! All the height/weight charts say that my ‘ideal’ is 13 stone ! Christ I havent been 13 stone for 20 years !!! How stringent are the docs who do the meds ? Am I wasting my time ?

If your BMI is more than 30 then you will almost certainly get a restricted medical (certainly from all the reputable doctors in the UK) valid for 3 months.

You would then have to show signs of weight loss or improvement and then they will give you another 3 months, as long as the weight is still decreasing you tend to get a full one after that.

Other people obviopusly get less sstringent certs overseas as Ive seen a lot of rather large people offshore!
