Thre problem for new starts at the moment is that there are so many trainees and inexperienced guys the industry is almost saturated with them.

Companys should stop recruiting for a year to get the current guys upto a decent standard.

I am an advocate of the training centres as long as you a). have a trade and b). understand the courses are only an introduction to the industry and do not make you an expert in the field of ROV work.

At least if you get a trainee who has done the course he may actually know what a compensator looks like and furthermore might be able to tell you if it is empty or over-full.

I really think that starting a course with no job is not the way to go at the moment. Get a company position first and they will train you if you are suitable. The problem at the moment is to many trainees and not enough positions to put them into where they will have an opportunity to develop.
