Hi all,
I’ve got an interesting one for this board. I’m part of a small ROV team (three people) and we are interested in seeing if anyone wants to take us on as a team. The benefit to employers is that we’ve all worked together, we get on, we trust each other, we know each others skills (and weaknesses) and we’ve learnt not to duplicate efforts.
We are all currently UK based, and together we’ve been soley responsible for designing, building and operating specialised inspection ROVs and AUVs, mainly for pipeline work. Most of our work is electrical based, although we do have varying degrees of hydraulic experience as well.
Between us we can offer skilled fabrication, electronic and electrical design, thruster design and assembly, CAD, software programming – basically everything needed to design and build an ROV from scratch, and if necessary radically alter or completely rebuild it in the field during projects (which as a team we’ve had to do before).
Individual ROV experience ranges from 1 year to around 5 years, although we all have stacks of relevant and complimentary experience, training and qualifications in other fields. Two of us have worked as supervisors before, and we’ve all got experience writing survey reports, managing logistics and travel arrangements, and liaising with clients.
As well as vehicles we’ve designed and built ourselves, we’ve worked together on SeaEye and VideoRay ROVs.
Together we could carry out ROV projects or form a core R&D and prototyping team. Employ us as experienced ROV operators, or give us two months and we’ll build you a vehicle from scratch! We are available immediately. If anyone wants more information, email me: rov at lemmin dot com for CVs, certs, portfolios of work etc.
Sorry this is slightly vague post, its hard to sum up three peoples experience in a single place!

Will be interested to find out if there are any companies out there that thinks this could be a good idea.October 16, 2009 at 11:51 am #25205SavanteParticipantI think it’s a great idea, but to be honest, if you have that many bodies around and the intellectual backup, why not form a company and then go try bidding on a some small contracts like spud can surveys?
October 19, 2009 at 5:03 pm #25206LemminParticipantThanks for the positive feedback.
I’ve had interest from a few agencies so far. Still putting together all the information in terms of CVs, certs etc – its surprising how out of date this stuff gets if you haven’t been looking for a while! Next stop is to contact the big companies and see what they think I suppose.
scotbeve: what are these groups you talk about? Have people suggested similar things before?
savante: if we had the money and time we’d build our own vehicles and sell them, hire them out and bid for projects – unfortunately, we all have mouths to feed so we could do with work right now!
I seem to remember seeing someone posting on these boards a while ago asking for complete teams to man new vehicles, which is probably what gave me the idea.
