Hey guys, New to the site so thought I would ask a few questions.

Im an ex-serviceman from the Australian Navy, worked as an Aircraft Technician (Mechanical), worked in the mines for a couple of years in the maintenance department assisting with the operation and maintenance of every bit of gear on site. Cert 4 in Aerospace Engineering with plenty of mechanical and hydraulic experience, and not much heavy machinery that I cant operate well.

Im interesting in changing pathways, and have had a passion and interest in ROVs for a while now. From what I have read, and from those that I have contacted, there does not seem to be any training in Australia for this type of work.

    QUESTIONS:
Should I organise a course overseas to get that qualification? Do I need a qualification?
What companies, if any, take on trainees in Australia? (Who should I contact)
Is there much work out there at the moment?

Feel free to inbox me or email me on

    Cheers,

    Nick
