If the company if giving good training and offering a solid job at the end of the six months then I think he would be foolish to jump ship till he had at least a full years experience as a tech.

Also he has not said if he has always wanted to work at Sonsub Singapore or as we suspect he is just chasing a quick buck.

Maybe rhamiel could post again with his reasons for wanting to work at SS.

He does seem to have what most people crave and that is stability so maybe he should probably show at least a couple of years worth of loyalty to the hand is feeding him and got him going in the Industry.

Exactly 1 of the points i was making in the first reply/ post to this guy

Another he might like to be aware of. Sonsub Singapore employ 30 to 40 phillipino techs. They are on approx 50 usd per day offshore.(much less in the workshop) Some have now been at the company 3 years but their rate has hardly increased. They only get a paid trip home every 6 months. They do not advance beyond pt2. they are not given any training. They are employed through a phillipino agent so sonsub singapore are absolved of any real resposibility for them and constantly use this excuse to deny them any of the deals or conditions the other guys get. If they complain they are told their deal is with the phillipino ageant.Sonsub singapore house them in a staff house when ever they are employed in the workshop (most of the time) They are not provided meals during those periods or transport to the workshop (just take the bus ). Not surprising most these guys have become withdrawn and resentful , unfortunetly this reflects in their work and it becomes a vicious circle. The main outcome is they are constantly yelled at and addressed in a way no one else would ever tolerate.

This is the way it is for phillipinos at sonsub. Prevoius people who have tried to get this point across on this website have been tagged racist by PC persons on here. I think this label would be better directed at the sonsub mangement.

So forget about sonsub if your smart. Follow the good advice in the previous post, show some loyalty where you are and get some more experience. If you still want to try another company try oceaneering singapore. You will advance further and quicker and they will either send you to houston for training or to batam (where they bring the instructor from houston)
