Just to make people fully aware, Compass have no contract in china, they are being asked to supply people by all seas asia, a bogus company (not to be confused with the well known AllSeas) who have to use agencies because of the non status in the industry. They also use Subserv Pro. The contract All Seas Asia has with COOEC is one of two contracts COOEC have for supply of personnel, the second being with OMSA. There are a few of the fundamental differences between the two contracts that you should all be aware of
1) OMSA has a clause in it’s contract which makes COOEC guarantee that COOEC takes responsibility for all chinese taxes. As both Compass and Subserv Pro do not have contracts with COOEC, then this is not the case, and you are liable for tax in china.
2) OMSA refuse to have only 1 westerner on shift on workclass ROV with the rest made up of locals, who are as any one who has worked their completely useless. All Seas policy is 1 westerner per shift only and the rest local. As recent personnel found out, then when this falls flat due to you fact you cant run a work class wiith only one person, it is meant to be 3 remember not 2. They blame the westerner concerned.
3) OMSA rate is higher due to the fact they are direct with COOEC, as opposed to being sub-contract to COOEC via another sub-contractor, more people eating in to your slice of the cake.
just some facts to mull over when you are thinking of going to china for all seas asia via one of the other agencies.
