Recently I had to delete about three thousand five hundred (yes! 3,500) comments added to polls and news items by some kind of automated script.
The sheer volume added in such a short time caught us on the hop…
The entries were extolling the virtues of teens, les and various other websites related to similar content. The links and content alone would have been doing this site damage because search engine bots no doubt will have down rated the site a little due to the nature of the content found in the comments.
To prevent that happening again I have disabled comments for those areas of the site. This should stop the script kiddies for a while.
This action in no way affects comments/posts made in the normal way in the Forum.
