Have you locked your car keys in the car?
Does your car have remote keyless entry?
This may come in handy someday.

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your mobile phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end.

    Your car will unlock.

Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you.
Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of kms away, and if you can reach someone who has the other ‘remote’ for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the boot/rear hatch).

Note by James n Gina: We’ve just tried this and it works fine on our company car (2008 Fiat Punto) but didn’t work on our 10 year old CLK230K Cab (which I think uses older IR technology rather than RF).

Interesting that one of yours worked. The TV show Mythbusters tried several diferent brands and had no joy with any of them.
