Thanks for posting info about the vitamin pills – I normally take an opened bottle, so its useful to know that’s not allowed.

What’s the deal with mobile phones and other electronics on helicopters? I’ve not flown on one for ages, but a few years ago I heard talk that mobile phones were not allowed on helicopters at all and had to be left in the heliport.

This seems a bit daft, especially as some of the rigs have mobile network towers on them now, so are phones allowed? If they aren’t allowed, how does that bode for other electronic devices that use mobile networks (modern laptops, amazon kindle e-reader, tablet computers etc)?

Someone else I always take with me but didn’t include in the list before: a few sturdy plastic carrier bags of the sort given out by the better quality of clothes shop. They are useful for stowing oily coveralls and dirty boots in for return journey.

I understand that space is always limited and don’t want to turn up, and have to throw stuff away in order to get aboard. I also don’t want to turn up without my lucky underpants…..

Cheers for all the serious replies (and the entertaining ones 😉 )

Ended up on a ship for the trip. Laundry was ready at the end of a shift if you put it in as you were going on. Sheets changed regularly. Crocs would have been good for use on board in the clean area, and easy to get into. Only a small bag of clothes would have been sufficient.

Next time I’m on this one I’ll take less clothes and more porn.

Don’t forget your ‘Billy-bob’ teeth, go down a blast in the GoM.

I more often than not always take my Puncture repair kit, and chop sticks…

No, seriously a hairy hand or ‘Glove of Love’ may help in your case 😆
